Summary of blogging

I have personally enjoyed being able to voice my opinion about Finlandia on my blog. If I were to have this opportunity to blog again, I might choose to blog about something more in the hockey category. I found a sense of pride knowing that if someone read my blog, they would be better informed about what it would be like living here. Blogging is something I think everyone should do at least once because it helps voice their opinion and makes you feel heard. WordPress.com is a valuable website making starting a website as easy as following simple steps, if I blog again, I’ll definitely use this site again. I feel that I learned new skills that will help me with business later in life. The major reason that any business should have a blog is to boost their visibility. The more blog material a company can produce, the greater chances it has of appearing in search engines and driving visitors to its website. Blogs are an excellent way to strengthen opinions about a company.

Maki Library

When the Wargelin classroom building was built in 1966, the library relocated into its current location. The library, which was located on the ground level of Wargelin Hall, was a 5,000-square-foot space. The environment of Maki Library encourages personal growth and collaboration. My experience here has always been positive, and the librarians are always willing to help you the best they can. The best perk about the library is that they allow you to print whatever you need free of charge. They are open Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. One of the most essential features of the Maki library is its quiet atmosphere, which encourages studying and learning. There are several distractions at your dorm or apartment, such as social media, video games, and Netflix. Studying in the dorms I have found isn’t the worst situation but less gets done than if I was in the library. When I find myself in the library I can work twice as long and retain more information. I highly recommend that everyone spends time in the library to get academic work done.

City Of Hancock

Hancock is a city in Houghton County, Michigan, United States. It is located on the Keweenaw Peninsula, across the Keweenaw Waterway from the city of Houghton. At the time of 2010, the population was 4,634. The Weather Channel has frequently placed the city as the third snowiest in the United States. The first structure in what is now the City of Hancock was a log cabin built halfway up the slope on the site of the Ruggles Mining Claim in 1846. It no longer stands because the site has been taken over by the Houghton County Garage facilities. The Kerredge Gallery, the Youth Gallery, and the Artist Market Sales Gallery are all located at the Copper Country Community Arts Center on Quincy Street. More than 170 local and regional artists are represented in the galleries. The Finlandia Reflection Gallery, located in the Jutila Center on Michigan Street, features a collection of artworks created by students in the University’s International School of Art and Design program. Both of these art centers are located within walking distance from the campus.

Paavo Building (Gym)

The Paavo Building is one of the nicest buildings on campus here at Finlandia University. The weight rooms are always in good condition, All the NCAA sports here train with weights at this building. The basketball team for the men and women both play their home games here and they are given their own locker rooms. Also, the women’s volleyball team plays their home games here on the basketball court. All the coaches’ offices are also located in this building making it easier on the students. I have found that being at the gym early in the morning is the best time specifically 6am. at this time I am normally by myself or at most two other people. during the day the weight room is flooded with sports teams showing up for team workouts. This building is one of the very few places you can go and unwind and be by yourself. One thing a lot of first-time students don’t know is that each locker room for the public has a sauna in it. This sauna is amazing during the winter or after a hard workout.

Choices for living Arrangement

At Finlandia University there are only two choices for living. Live on your own off-campus or live in the only dormitory on campus. Living In the dorms has its perks for me personally I like how close my classes are. A normal walk to one of my classes is around 1-3 minutes. The gym is very close as well and makes it easy to go from class to working out in a short time. Next semester I have to decide if I want to live in the dorms again. If the rest of my time living at the dorms goes well, I will plan to live here again. If I plan to live off-campus, I have to start looking for apartments very soon. Living by yourself can have its benefits too. For example, there is no one to tell you how you should act or when you should return home. Students who live off-campus have the opportunity to mature as adults. Most students migrate out of dorms and into off-campus housing so that they have more independence and no one to watch them. The one appeal living off-campus has for me is cooking. Living on my own I would have the opportunity to make my own food and shop for myself. By making my own food I feel that would be more nutritionally better off than what I get at the dorm’s cafe.

Wednesday Food Review (02/02/22)

Breakfast: cheesy scrambled eggs, regular scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage

The scrambled eggs are made with liquid and not real eggs. I honestly can’t tell a difference unless the lunch workers don’t scramble them enough. The hashbrowns and sausage are always a “go-to” for me. A little ketchup the hashbrowns and sausage are what get me up in the morning for breakfast. Overall, the breakfast is the same almost every day and gets old quick. I am personally finding it hard to not just get groceries and have breakfast in my room.

Monday Food Review (01/21/22)

Dinner: Jumbo beef ravioli, chicken parmesan, garlic bread sticks, and vegetables.

I started off with the ravioli and thought it was one of the few goods things served in the cafe. The Chicken on the other hand was dry and room temperature. It seemed like the chicken parmesan was left out for an extended period of time due to nobody eating it. By the time I got to dinner, there were no more breadsticks, but the vegetables weren’t terrible. I was able to fill myself up with mainly ravioli and vegetables.

The Rooms

Each student before arriving at Finlandia University is assigned a roommate. A bed and desk/dresser are the only pieces of furniture in your room when you arrive. The restrictions are loose, and you can arrange your room however you want. The Bathroom situation consists of a toilet and shower being shared between a room in a jack and jill style layout. The sink is located in your room and is shared between two roommates. Living in the dormitories will help you socialize, especially in your first year. You’ll be surrounded by kids eager to meet new acquaintances, making the process much easier. You will be sharing a room with someone if you live on campus. It’s all fun and games until you realize how little alone time you have. I personally have my car where I can find alone time.
